ANDCare is built with the intention to grow into a small, connected team of like minded specialist nurses and nurse educators, passionate about addressing gaps in healthcare, supporting our community, and delivering personalised, compassionate care.

AND stands for Allow a Natural Death, a term increasingly used in healthcare settings as a compassionate alternative to DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) or NFR (Not For Resuscitation).

Our use of the term reflects our belief that end of life should not be framed by medicalised language. Instead, Allow a Natural Death promotes a holistic, person-centered approach, one that prioritises comfort, dignity, and what truly matters most to the individual and their loved ones.

ANDCare embodies our commitment to supporting a planned, meaningful, comfortable and uniquely personal end of life experience.

Why the name ANDCare?

Why is the Black Cockatoo our logo?

The Black Cockatoo is a deeply significant symbol in many First Nations cultures. As shared by Dr Bilawara Lee (Aunty B) OAM Storyteller, black cockatoos are believed to guide and protect the spirits of loved ones as they journey to rest among the Ancestors. They are seen as messengers of change and transitions between the physical and spiritual worlds.

For us, the Black Cockatoo represents guidance, dignity, spiritual connection, and the honouring of life’s final transition.
